I'm looking for a midrange 7.1 (or compatible) system that:

-has no hearable noise ever. my current 2.1 makes all too audible hissss when not used.
-Sub: I don't need one that make the walls shake, but I want it to not sound fake. My current 2.1 is ok if I tone the sub down a bit. Else it gives false sound/rumble.
-Is great for music. Classic at least. Oh, and http://www.ageofconan.com/   ^__^

I am clueless of how much money to put into it. Anyone with at least one clue and an opinion? =-)

EDIT:  seems like I need 7.1, not 5.1  >__>

My suggestion is looking into getting one of Creatives new soundcards, they do make a difference (X-Fi Series), specially if you're using built-in soundcard or an older Creative card.

I have an external USB sound'card', to minimize noise from the computer.

Oh yeah, that reminds me: the 5.1 system needs SPDIF :-)
